Air Quality Comfort You Can Count On

Indoor Air Quality in Seattle, WA

Dependable Air Quality Solutions Across Western Washington

If someone in your home has asthma, COPD, compromised immune systems, or other respiratory issues, your indoor air quality plays a large part in their health.

According to the EPA, Americans spend about 90% of their time indoors. Unfortunately, the air inside typically has 2 to 5 times the pollutants than what you would breathe outside. You may be asking what is a typical indoor pollutant you would find inside of your home and how do they get there.

There are various ways pollutants find their way into your home including the construction and remodeling your home (carpeting fibers, sawdust, paint, etc.), pets, pollutants you bring in from outside (pollen) and household cleaners. Typical pollutants include carbon monoxide, pet dander, mold, pesticides, cleaning chemicals, and pollen.

Brennan has several options to improve your indoor air quality

  • Pleated Filters - Pleated air filters are made of cotton or polyester folds and are more effective with filtering dust and other small particles like pollen, mold spores, and pet dander. Those with more pleats provide better filtering and help prevent dust and other particulates from being recirculated in the air. MERV ratings for these filters typically run between 5 to 8.
  • HEPA Filters - HEPA filters which stands for high-efficiency particulate air filters, are a type of air filter that are highly effective at removing tiny particles from the air. HEPA filters are made of a dense mat of randomly arranged fibers that are typically made of fiberglass or polypropylene. The air is forced through the mat, and the fibers trap the particles. They can capture at least 99.97% of airborne particles as small as 0.3 microns in size including dust, pollen, mold spores, pet dander, smoke, bacteria, and some viruses.
  • Whole-Home Electric Air Cleaners - Whole-home electric air cleaners attach directly to your HVAC system. As air passes through your heating and cooling system, the electronic air cleaner traps large particles (such as dust and dander) in a prefilter. Then, electrically charged filters attract and trap smaller particles (such as bacteria and mold) to prevent them from recirculating through your home. Electric air cleaners also help keep your HVAC system cleaner and reduce system strain.
  • Whole-Home Air Cleaners with UV Lights - Whole-home air cleaners with UV lights also attach directly to your HVAC system. In addition to trapping particles, the UV light component helps to reduce viruses, bacteria, and other contaminants in the ambient air and on surfaces while the HVAC fan is running. Not only do whole-home air cleaners with UV lights disinfect the air circulating through your home and the surfaces within your home, but they also help protect your heating and cooling system from potential buildup!
